Summit County Other Interesting Facts



A famous fact that I found interesting,is that every January the Sundance Film Fastival is held in Park City.Where many famous actors and directors come to view independent films.It has become a big,well know event around the country. It has helped make Utah a place that people want to come and visit.

Summit County Recreation

















Summit County is very well known for the many ski resorts in Park City and surrounding cities. The 2002 Winter Olympics had many venues in Park City, including skiing, bobsled, and many more winter sports. Park City is famous for it's many ski resorts and winter activities.  In the summer there is lots of hiking and outdoor activities that people like to enjoy from fishing, hiking, and camping. Because of the many lakes there are a lot of water activities that can be enjoyed as well.

Summit County Agriculture and/or Manufacturing





The primary crops in summit county are alfalfa and hay. The common livestock in summit county are cattle and sheep. Mining in Summit County was a big thing back in the 1870's. Especially when they struck silver, people came from all the over to try and strike it rich. In the 1950's mining slowed down, mine companies couldn't make enough money to stay open.The animals in Summit county are

Mormon pioneers named Parley Pratt and Samuel Snyder explored Summit County, later Snyder settled his family here. Other settlers moved up and developed towns in Summit County during the 1850s. The county got its name because it includes 39 of the highest mountain peaks in Utah. The discovery of silver, lead, and zinc in the Wasatch Mountains in the 1870s lead to a boom in mining.  Park City was a mining town founded in 1872.               

Summit County National Forest







Summit county has 2 national forest and they are Ashley National Forest and Wasatch National Forest. The pic on the left side is Ashley national forest. Some of the most popular landmarks located in the Forest include the Flaming Gorge and the Uinta Mountains, which does contains the highest mountain peak in Utah called Kings PeakThe one under is Wasatch national forest.  Both forests are not just located in Summit county, they are so big that there are portions of the forests located in multiple surroundings counties.










Summit County Mountain Ranges




Summit county is a rugged and mountainous area.That consists of 2 major mountain ranges they are the Wasatch Range and the Uinta mountain's.The Wasatch Range is located in the north to south.The Uinta mountain's is located in the west to east.
